About our client
Our client is a Liquid Biopsy start-up-based Hayward in the San Francisco Bay area. They’re really leading the way in terms of creating a lasting impact in cancer and oncology research. They are committed to developing the first and best-in-class precision diagnostics and medicine portfolio to address needs in the US, China and worldwide.

They also have a second side to the business, Covid/infectious disease testing business which is making huge traction in the Bay Area – expanding aggressively now into Los Angeles. They have plans for US wide expansion to build labs in Chicago, Texas and Florida which will be announced in the next few months.

Overall Job Purpose

  • Running diagnostic tests safely and efficiently.

What you can expect:

  • To undertake sample reception, preparation, analysis and recording of results in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Liaise with line manager as part of a team delivering a high-quality protocol based technical service under the supervision of scientific staff
  • Required to communicate with a range of colleagues and external suppliers/stakeholders
  • Required to operate sophisticated, automated laboratory equipment and perform scientific techniques under supervision
  • Appropriately handle body fluids and materials, including high risk specimens
  • To report results in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and as appropriate to grade

What we're looking for:
This position will be ideal for those seeking to take the next step within their scientific research career, also suitable for graduates with some experience working in a laboratory environment and a clear understanding of the health and safety protocols in a lab environment.

  • BSc Honours degree in a Biology based subject or Life Sciences
  • Experience in a laboratory setting (academic, clinical, or industrial)
  • A comprehensive understanding of health and safety protocols in a lab environment
  • Evidence of strong communication and team-working skills
  • Evidence of excellent attention to detail

Working hours and shift times
A certain amount of flexibility with this role may be required, however, it’ll be standard 40-hour weeks.
